Whether you’re on Android or Apple, the smartphone gaming options of today have never been so good. As a result, the community of smartphone gamers has grown dramatically in recent times, and the games we can now access are more detailed too. There is a creation out there for everyone.

Smartphone gaming will always have its appeal, especially for people who don’t necessarily have the time or the money to purchase a sophisticated console like the newly-released PlayStation 5.

Gaming on a mobile phone is easily accessible, most games are incredibly cheap or free altogether, they are created to be picked up and put down throughout the day, and mobile releases are better designed and come with more sophisticated graphics than ever before.

Alongside games like European roulette for South African players, we can now access more graphically advanced creations that have made the transition from console over to mobile, such as Fortnite, PUBG and Minecraft. Then we can play augmented reality games like Pokemon Go and purchase virtual reality headsets for a variety of games also. The options are certainly comprehensive.

With an array of smartphone games proving popular in 2021 already, we thought we’d go through some of the best of them. All games featured are downloadable on both iOS and Android.

Among Us

The most played game ever in terms of monthly users, Among Us, is easily one the best games around at the moment. It’s simple too, although some of the best creations are, aren’t they? In the case of Among us, this online multiplayer game involves players trying to uncover a lurking imposter who is killing members of the crew on a spaceship. After each round, players vote on who they think the guilty party is. Guess correctly, and you win.

Knight Brawl

If you’re partial to the odd scrapper, then you’ll most definitely take to Knight Brawl. This fast-paced game full of swords, axes and heavy maces gets tougher and tougher the further you progress. You can earn coins along the way, too.

Genshin Impact

With stunning visuals and immaculate graphics, Genshin Impact is an incredibly popular smartphone game right now. This brilliant gacha ARPG offers players with the opportunity of exploring a unique open-world similar in terms of style to some Zelda games of old. You need to learn spells, build your team, explore large areas, and immerse yourself as much as possible in what is a truly enthralling game.

Just Survive

Going up against seven rivals, Just Survive tasks players with completing a variety of challenges in what is essentially a competition. You’ll be chased by wild animals, get lost on endless running tracks, and do your best to collect as many coins as possible in this battle against the bots.

Racing games are finally able to shine on mobile, largely thanks to the sophisticated devices we have today, which has enabled developers to improve their overall offering. In the case of Asphalt 9, it is certainly one of the better games of its type out there. Driving a wide selection of hypercars on tracks all around the world, players can reign supreme by pulling off various tricks and stunts in what is a truly fun and entertaining release.

Tiny Bird Garden

An oddly charming release, Tiny Bird Garden involves players customising and adding various designs to a garden full of tiny birds. You can add various items, meet and greet new birds, and create a welcoming environment in this light-hearted release.

Other games worth checking out are Monument Valley 2, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Hearthstone, and Dadish 2.
